Japanese tourists who love tours

Travel

Many Japanese people may be impatient.

If you see someone walking at a rapid pace overseas, I think they’re Japanese.

Since many people are time-conscious, many walk quickly.

It’s also very easy to tell Japanese tour groups apart when you’re abroad.

This is because they all have the same clothes, hairstyles, and belongings.

They look like students wearing uniforms on a school trip.

I often hear about crimes targeting Japanese people.

It’s true that, even from my perspective, many Japanese people are careless.

This is because they bring the same habits as Japan even when they’re abroad and have little sense of danger.

When I was a university student and took a tour in Paris just once, a Japanese man I met told me that he tried to steal his wallet twice on the Paris subway.

He told me that because it was his first trip abroad and he was so scared he couldn’t leave his hotel room.

I don’t know about now, but back then I remember that the Paris subway had a unique, tense atmosphere.

However, I was a little surprised that a man would be nearly attacked twice.

Thankfully, for some reason, I have never had a scary experience while traveling abroad.

Local people often mistake me for a Japanese person living there, rather than a tourist.

I think it’s because I consciously avoid tourist spots and tourist restaurants.

When I first started traveling abroad, I would rush around visiting tourist spots and famous brand shops, but once I got used to traveling abroad, I started living like the locals.

I really enjoy buying local ingredients at markets where the locals go and cooking at home.

I find it very interesting to use freshly picked vegetables and fish with local spices to create dishes that suit the local climate.

Maybe it’s because I enjoy these things when I travel that I don’t seem like a tourist.
