July The beginning of summer

Society

In recent years, Japanese summers have been incredibly hot.

I’ve lived in Southeast Asia, and I think Japan is much hotter than Southeast Asia.

I have an African resident living in my apartment building, and he always says it’s even hotter than Africa.

Once the humid, oppressive rainy season ends, summer really begins.

School summer vacation begins in mid-July.

I’d like to share some recent information about Japanese summers.

Of course, it varies by area, but many places are becoming so hot that it’s life-threatening.

Unlike Southeast Asian countries, Japanese summers rarely offer cooling relief even in the shade.

In particular, in major cities like Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Osaka, the intense heat of the asphalt creates a heat island effect.

In recent years, the extreme heat has led to a significant increase in the number of people suffering from heatstroke and being rushed to the hospital.

However, this is also the time of year when beaches open for the season, marking the start of the swimming season.

At this time, many beaches also host fireworks displays and other events.

If you are planning to travel to Japan during this time, please be careful of the heat.
