I used to go to Chinatown every day, which was within walking distance of my condominium.
Since living in Hong Kong, I’ve grown to love authentic Chinese food, and once I got tired of Indian dosa, I started going to Chinatown for breakfast.
Here in Kuala Lumpur, I found some of my favorite dishes from Hong Kong: porridge with century egg and cheung fun, rice flour crepes.
I hadn’t eaten them in several years since returning from Hong Kong, so I was thrilled to find them again.
The shared seating culture I learned in Hong Kong also came in handy here in Kuala Lumpur.
I never saw any Japanese people, not just at Masjid Jamek where I’m staying, but also in Chinatown.
The Petronas Twin Towers, a must-see for tourists, are stylish towers with a strong presence.
They were apparently built by Japanese and Korean companies.
The area around the towers is a big city, and the Bukit Bintang area in particular is home to a young crowd and many stylish shops.
This area has an atmosphere reminiscent of Shibuya in Japan.
There are also famous Japanese department stores such as Isetan.
Japanese food and other Japanese products are easily available.
