Blending the future and the past in Bangkok

Travel

Bangkok is a truly mysterious metropolis.

When I first arrived, I never imagined it would be so big.

Bangkok’s economic development is so incredible that it makes Tokyo look small.

I live in the capital region of Japan, so I know Tokyo well, but Bangkok and Tokyo are incomparable.

Bangkok’s power is so overwhelming that you can really feel its energy.

The scale of the fashion mall buildings is also incomparable to those in Japan.

On this trip, I started by visiting the recently opened Central Park Bangkok.

My first impression was that it was huge, sophisticated, and had a stylish atmosphere.

There are outdoor walkways on the third and fourth floors with great views.

I was amazed at the sheer scale of the mall, overlooking the city of Bangkok.

There are many fashion malls in Bangkok, but these were very stylish, playful, and tasteful.

I could also sense the economic power and leisure of the locals.

And near this cutting-edge mall is a retro townscape reminiscent of Japan’s Showa era.

I felt that the cutting-edge mall and architectural buildings visible from the old townscape where time seems to have stood still symbolize the charm of Bangkok.

Seeing a scene where both new and old things are cherished brought with it mixed emotions.

Bangkok is a very mysterious city where I can feel the latest trends, but at the same time, it is a city where I can feel a deep sense of nostalgia.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, my family lived in Malaysia for a short period, and it was a country where you could really sense the differences between different countries.

Here in Thailand, I can clearly feel the differences between the times.
